- Statue in Surabaya city, Indonesia (印尼泗水市的雕像)
-
Clarissa Maharrita H (瑪荷莉)
Sophomore, DTAIC (熱帶農業暨國際合作系大二生)
Indonesia (印尼) - This statue comes from the Legend of Surabaya, an Indonesian folk tale. Once upon a time, Sura (a shark) and Baya (a crocodile) fought many times over preys in the ocean. They were both equally strong and no one ever won or lost. Finally, they agreed that Sura stayed and preyed in the water, while Baya lived on the mainland and his preys must be on land or river. One day, Sura hunted in the river. This enraged Baya. Since no one budged, they battled fiercely again.
